First know your hardwood floor to choose a perfect cleaning process among dust mopping, stain removing, vacuuming or sweeping. Use waxes and oils to your grainy wood floors to prevent it from exfoliating but never use ammonia, sand or grits because these turn the woods into soft, white chips.
While cleaning the floor spread two spoons of warm water on the floor and watch if it gets soaked then your flooring needs a rebuilt session, on the other hand if the water remains on the floor top, then you’re saved because you floor is in good condition. Use oil soaps, vinegar and fluid cleaners to clean the hardwood floors and always wipe it dry and use curtains in your rooms to protect the floor from direct heat and light.
